Our remarkably sturdy Marquess Playpens can be used as dog whelping pens or dog puppy pens. This is an essential dog product to own when dealing with whelping bitches and her litter of puppies or even one little mischievous puppy determined to renovate your house with its pin-sharp puppy teeth.

This puppy playpen comes in a rectangular shape made up of four panels, which are interlinked. This means, that if required, you can add another full set of panels to your puppy pen making it a larger area for your bitch and her puppies as they grow. Furthermore, the entrance to this puppy playpen has a handy add-on feature, which is the inner, removable half height panel. When in place, this will allow the dams to leave the pen through the open door, without her puppies being able to follow her. This will allow your dam to have her food and water break in peace and quiet, whilst still being able to see her precious puppies.

Once the puppies are in their ‘inquisitive stage’ of puppyhood, (when absolutely everything in your house is gradually transforming into a dog chew toy in their eyes), they will start attempting to hurdle over the half door panel. This is when your main door and its lock come into play. The slide lock mechanism will even resist a determined puppy rattling and possibly biting at the inner bars of the puppy pen in an attempt of making a great escape towards your shiny new leather sofa. The main door with its lock is also completely removable (it easily lifts out of its hinges), which is useful for a bitch getting used to her new whelping pen before her litter is due. This will allow her to wander in and out of the dog whelping pen freely.

As this dog pen is a true multi-use dog product, you can of course also use it as a puppy playpen for your first little puppy. It can serve as a safe area whilst your attention is somewhat otherwise distracted, for instance on a telephone call. Like this, you can be assured that your puppy is safe and not nibbling on electrical wires while you arrange for your next evening out. The innovative design of this dog product means that it can be used indoors as well as outdoors. This therefore allows your litter of puppies to enjoy their first rays of sunshine in a safe environment outside.

The distance between the individual bars is set at 30mm, allowing for puppy paws to pass through safely, without the fear of getting them stuck or even worse, getting their dew claws caught. The main frame of the puppy pen measure 25mm in thickness with the inner bars being 3mm in width. This construction makes this puppy pen a very strong design with a puppy-safe, dual coated Aztec Silver finish, which is an attractive two tone black and silver effect making this dog product an adequate and attractive piece of dog furniture in your home. Please note that the dual coating used is rust-resistant and adds strength to the already durable design of this puppy pen.

No breeder would go without our Marquess Puppy play and whelping pen – keeping puppies safe, dam's happy, mess at a minimum and most of all, your peace of mind that every little soul in your cherished litter is safe once the door is closed. Suitable for most breeds (depending on size of your dam course), but certainly suitable for small and medium breeds, as well as strong breeds such as English Bull Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers etc. Even if the whelping pen does not fit your dam, you can use this pen as a playpen for large breed puppies to give your dam a well deserved rest and break from motherhood.

Please kindly note that our Marquess Puppy Playpens do not come with a base tray, as we do not want to risk little puppy paws getting trapped between removable trays. We do however supply washable and waterproof, rubber-backed Dirt trapper textile mats or of course the renowned VetBed bedding.

Super easy to assemble (panels just slot in) – can of course be added to in order to double the play areas for both puppies and dams alike making play areas of for example nearly 9ft by 9ft (using two full puppy playpen sets consisting of eight panels in total – you can only increase your pens by purchasing complete sets of four panels).
